“So what kind of stuff do you write, ” people often ask. “Books? Movies? Documentaries? Well you seem to like frogs. Do you write about them?”
My mind smiles. They’re right I do take to the little critters. I like the way they look, the way they move and their lifestyle in general. But that’s a story for another time.
“I write affirmations in the format of a wordgift,” I tell them. Then comes that puzzled look as their eyes scroll over my work…enjoying but nevertheless still questioning what it is that I do.
I cut, paint, design, talk, listen, ponder (far too long) and then write. I meet hundreds of people at shows who share their stories. They tell me about loss and pain. They tell me about friendship gained and those that have gone awry. They talk about children who’ve disappointed and those who’ve brought unspeakable joy. Lots of conversations about lives propel and inspire me to present snippets in a beautiful format .
I do not create all the quotes. Some are from my vast collection. Others I have written or re-written. Presentation is as important to me as the message, hence I spend as much time trying to create long-lasting wordgifts with quality matting and eye-catching elements of wood, pewter, copper, brass and other metals. These wordgifts, I hope you’ll agree, are one of a kind.
